Craft project #3 || Painted wall art

I am a huge fan of Jessica Jones' blog so when I saw her tutorial for making your own DIY wall art I had to give it a go!

Supplies: canvas (leftovers from a kit), white acrylic paint, matt gel to seal, paintbrushes and some sticky labels.

First step was to paint the canvas in several layers of matt gel and white paint to create a base.

Once that had dried, I stuck on my design with the labels and masking tape.

Then painted over the top.

Finally I removed the labels and hey presto! DIY wall art!

These look great hanging on my living room wall now. Thanks for the inspiration Jessica!

Craft project #2 || Bead necklace

I'm not really a jewellery wearer but I fancied making a simple necklace, similar to ones I've seen in all the high street shops lately.

So I went to my local bead shop and picked up some supplies. Within a few minutes, I had strung it together. You can't see them very well in the photo below but the beads at the ends are these little grooved metal tubes.

Don't worry, I don't think I'll be branching out and making jewellery to sell anytime soon - ha! But for £2.80 and few minutes of time I'm quite pleased with the result.

Supplies: 1m black waxed cord, 8 large black wooden beads, 16 medium black wooden beads, 2 silver tube beads.

Rufford in photos

A big thank you to everyone who braved the torrential rain to come along to the Contemporary Craft and Design Fair at Rufford Country Park last weekend.

I'm taking a break from markets over the summer and will hopefully be back with a stall at Sneinton Market in late September.  If you can't wait until then, you can buy my cards from my etsy shop or from the gift shop at Mansfield Museum
